Cookies

As is common practice with almost all professional websites this site uses cookies, which are tiny files that are downloaded to your computer, to improve your experience. This page describes what information they gather, how we use it and why we sometimes need to store these cookies. We will also share how you can prevent these cookies from being stored however this may downgrade or "break" certain elements of the sites functionality.

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for a variety of reasons detailed below. We group them into two kinds. Essential cookies are required for the site to work at all — they sign you in, keep your session secure and remember your preferences — so they are always set and cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies are optional: they are active by default, you can turn them off at any time, and doing so does not affect any feature of the site.

Disabling Cookies

You can turn analytics off at any time using the button below. Declining stops Google Analytics immediately, prevents it loading on later visits, and deletes the analytics cookies already stored in your browser. Your choice is remembered in that browser, so you will need to set it again on a different browser or device, or after clearing your browsing data.

You can also prevent cookies more broadly by adjusting your browser settings (see your browser Help for how to do this). Be aware that blocking essential cookies will break parts of this site, such as staying signed in.

To view and manage the website cookies

The Cookies We Set

Account related cookies: If you create an account with us then we will use cookies for the management of the signup process and general administration. These cookies will usually be deleted when you log out however in some cases they may remain afterwards to remember your site preferences when logged out. Site preferences cookies: In order to provide you with a great experience on this site we provide the functionality to set your preferences for how this site runs when you use it. In order to remember your preferences we need to set cookies so that this information can be called whenever you interact with a page is affected by your preferences.

Third Party Cookies

In some special cases we also use cookies provided by trusted third parties. The following section details which third party cookies you might encounter through this site.

  • Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, how long visits last, roughly where visitors come from and which site referred them — so we know what to improve. It is active by default and stops as soon as you decline analytics cookies. While active it sets two cookies in your browser, _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to two years and are used to tell returning visits apart from new ones; if you decline, we delete them. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, and advertising and personalisation signals are switched off. Google does not store your full IP address in Google Analytics 4; it is used to derive an approximate location and then discarded. You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services, Google's privacy policy, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to block it across every site you visit.

Hopefully that has clarified things for you. Accepting analytics cookies is entirely your choice and the site works exactly the same either way, so if you would rather not be counted, decline — nothing else changes.
